AFTERCARE

Tattoo

Please follow each step. This aftercare has been compiled by each artist and is subject to change.

  • After one hour wash lightly with liquid fragrance free antibacterial soap no more than twice a day.
  • Let sit in open air to dry for 15 minutes. DO NOT USE BATH/BEACH TOWELS OR WASH RAGS
  • Apply a light amount (pea size for every two to three inches of tattoo) of LUBRIDERM or CUREL Fragrance free white lotion 3-4 times daily (or whenever the tattoo seems tight and dry).
  • IN HAWAII DO NOT USE AQUAPHORE, A&D OITMENT, PETROLEUM JELLY, OR ANY TYPE OF HEALING OINTMENTS OR OILY SUBSTANCES. IF YOU ARE NOT SURE CALL THE SHOP.
  • During the 4th or 5th day of the healing process your new tattoo will start to peel and flake dead skin. PLEASE DO NOT PICK, SCRATCH, or RUB the tattoo. It is still healing and if you are pulling dead skin away the ink can come with it, and opening a new wound. During this time it will itch. DO NOT SCRATCH IT, Pat it lightly to temporarily stop the itch with a clean hand.
  • Please keep your tattoo away or out of the sun, ocean, bath water (shower is fine), or anyone from touching it. This means NO BEACH or POOLS for the healing time of 2 to 3 weeks.
  • Do Not use any type of Neosporin, rubbing alcohol, peroxide, petroleum jelly, or wound healing agents or ointments. It will destroy the healing process and the final outcome will not look like a good tattoo.
  • PLEASE REFRAIN FROM FRIEND ADVISE! What works for them might not work at all for you. Unless they tattoo full time in a tattoo shop THEY DON'T HAVE A IDEA!
  • If you have taken well care of your tattoo but some ink or it has faded please come to the shop for a touch up. THEY ARE FREE (not taking care of your tattoo will bar you from the touch up for free. Don't lie we know).

Once you leave the shop it is up to you to take care of the tattoo..

piercing

Body Piercing: If any questions or concerns arise, please contact us immediately. Do Not accept advise from your friends: they are not your piercing professionals. We are here to help.

CLEANING SOLUTIONS:                                                                                                                                                                                                       SEA SALT SOAKS: Dissolve 1/4 teaspoon of non-iodized (Hawaiian) sea salt into one cup (8oz.) of hot water. Measure exactly and DO NOT use table salt or Epsom Salt.

ANTIBACTERIAL MILD FRAGRANCE-FREE SOAP: Examples of these are Liquid Dial, Soft Soap, and Almay Clearly Natural.

CLEANING INSTRUCTIONS: Remember to always wash hands before and after cleaning your piercing, any bacteria on your hands may get into the piercing.

TWICE A DAY: Wash a 3-inch diameter circle around your piercing with a mild fragrance free antibacterial soap. Rinse well! Do not leave any soap to dry and crust. Check threaded ends for tightness. Follow each wash with one of the sea salt soaks explained above.

FOUR TIMES A DAY: Mix sea salt solution in a cup or bowl. Water should be as warm a bearable---use caution to not burn skin tissue. Completely submerge piercing for a total of 15 minutes.

ORAL:

RINSE MOUTH: Every hour and after eating, smoking, or anything other than water is put in your mouth. Rinse for at least 60 seconds. Check threaded ends for tightness.

In addition to rinsing: the Lip, Labret, Monroe, and Cheek piercings also need the CLEANING SOLUTIONS AND INSTRUCIONS ABOVE.

THINGS TO AVOID:

  • Do Not use cotton balls or Q-tips.
  • NO swimming pools, hot tubs, waterfalls, lakes, rivers, streams, ponds, or ocean for a minimum of 10 days.
  • AVOID make-up, moisturizers, facial scrubs, hair spray, etc. on or around the piercing.
  • AVOID oral contact and contact with others bodily fluids on or near your piercing.
  • KEEP all clothing clean and free of pet dander.
  • WEAR loose fitting clothing.
  • DO NOT use rubbing alcohol, hydrogen peroxide, Bactine, Neopsporine, or healing agents/ointments on you piercing.

ESTIMATED INITIAL HEALING TIMES:

Jewelry should never be removed during the initial healing period. Even after the piercing has healed, reinsertion can be difficult and sometimes impossible. A piercing may seem healed before healing is complete. This is because a piercing heals from the outside in, and although it may feel healed the tissue remains fragile. BE PATIENT, continue cleaning throughout the ENTIRE healing process.
